Nous avons regardé beaucoup d’autres bateaux tout en étudiant les différentes options, process de fabrication et le design. Au final, nous avons beaucoup aimé le Privilège qui nous a donné confiance et c’est pourquoi nous en avons commandé un. »
Quelles sont vos relations avec Privilège Marine ?
Même si nous avons eu des petits problèmes à régler lors de la construction (c’est classique lors d’un tel projet), il y a toujours eu une très bonne communication et le dialogue était permanent.
Ils vont dans le détail et trouvent des solutions.
De manière générale, il y a vraiment une belle collaboration tout au long de la construction. Il est toujours possible d’échanger et, selon les possibilités et la conception, de modifier certains éléments de design ou autre. Et quand vous arrivez avec une nouvelle idée, l’équipe Privilège est à l’écoute et cherche à nous satisfaire.
La relation a été très qualitative, pour nous c’est important ! »
Quel est votre programme de navigation ?
« Notre programme de navigation… Ouha ! Nous avons beaucoup de projets !
Depuis mon enfance, je rêvais de faire le tour du monde en bateau. J’ai grandi à côté d’un lac en Australie, un grand lac salé et c’était merveilleux.
J’ai beaucoup de chance avec ma femme et mes enfants et je pense que tout le monde souhaite partager son rêve… Nous souhaitons naviguer ! Initialement, nous souhaitions naviguer tranquillement jusqu’en Australie mais tout en voulant découvrir aussi la Méditerranée, les iles Canaries.
Cet événement est très bien organisé et sécurisant, c’est aussi l’occasion de faire de belles rencontres humaines ! Nous traverserons vers les Caraïbes et d’ailleurs je vais faire l’ARC avec 3 amis… donc imaginez 4 hommes sur un bateau !
Les femmes et les enfants nous retrouverons aux Caraïbes et nous passerons quelques semaines avec nos amis. Après qu’ils nous aient quitté, nous aurons 3 ou 4 mois avec ma famille pour profiter des Caraïbes. Ce sera le bonheur !
Et ensuite, le canal de Panama, puis nous traverserons le Pacifique pour arriver en Australie ! Il y aura bien sûr beaucoup à voir… là je vous donne la version courte… Vous savez, toutes les îles du Pacifique… et il y a tellement à voir qu’il faudrait deux vies pour tout faire !
Oui ce sera bien, nous allons en profiter et prendre beaucoup de plaisir. »

Why did you choose Privilège Marine
I’m buying a boat to sail around the world with my family and I want to make sure that the boat that I choose is a good boat.
It’s quality built, and when I’m out in the ocean a long way from anywhere I feel that it’s strong and I have confidence in the boat that I’ve got.
We looked around at a lot of boats and considered all the different options and quality of construction and how the boats are built and the design, and we really like the Privilege.
We like the design, the construction, and it gave me confidence, and that’s why we ordered the Privilege catamaran. »
What are your relations with Privilège Marine?
« The important things for me as far as a relationship with Privilege is that I’ve had a very good communication–very good level of communication to talk to the boat builder.
And we’ve had a few little problems which you’ll no doubt encounter with any boat builder, but we’ve always been able to talk and discuss and work through any minor details and come out with a good result.
Generally speaking it’s been a very good relationship in that along the way you can change your thinking sometimes.
You’ll find something a little bit better designed and then when you come up with something like that you’ll be able to talk to the builder, to Privilege, and they’ve been able to help us with that.
The relationship has been very good, and for us, yes, I think it’s a good thing. »
What is your sailing program?
I grew up on a lake in Australia, Lake Macquarie, and sailed. So it’s a wonderful thing, and it’s lucky for me my wife and children and everybody wants to share that dream.
Initially we’ll sail the boat home to Australia slowly. We’ll sail down into the Med and then we’ll sail to the Canary Islands, and then we’ll hook up with the ARC rally.
With 260 boats they’ll pick us up and they’re really special. It’ll be really fun and they have good safety.
It’s a well-organized event and a lot of social activities which should be fun too.
And then we’ll sail across to the Caribbean. I’m actually sailing in the ARC with 3 other guys. There are 4 men, so it’s just a men’s show, a blokey show we say, and that should be good.
And then all the wives and the children meet us in the Caribbean and then we have a couple of weeks with our friends. And then they’ll leave us.
Then myself and the family have 3 or 4 months sailing around the Caribbean. It should be great. And then through the Panama, across the Pacific, and home to Australia.
It should be good. There’s a lot to see. That’s a short version. With all pacific islands, there’s so much to see and do. I think you have to live twice to get it done but it will be good. It’ll be good fun. »
